CLASSIFICATION OF WATERS
Oligomineral waters
Other than by their reduced concentration of mineralizers, oligomineral waters, are characterized by the presence of traces of heavy metals and by more or less a big quantity of disolved gases. They are important for their known diuretic action and are used as drinks. These waters favour principally, diuresis and are indicated for the prevention of kidney calculosis. The oligomineral waters are the best to drink and wash out in depth the kidneys.
Mediomineral watersi
The maggiority of these waters are rich in bicarbonates. Their action is the same of the oligomineral waters', although the diuretic effect decreases progressively with the increasing of the fixed residue.
Mineral waters
In this group are included the most known ''healing waters''. So, given the variability salt concentration, the assumption for a precise therapeutic purpose, should be done directly under a physician's supervision, in order to avoid the inproper use and the appearance of undesired affects.
Classification based on the saline composition
Saltwaters or sodium chloride waters
Mostly contain sodium cloride. Some of hem have sulphate sodium and bicorbonated sodium, calcium and magnesium. Administrated mostly by drink.
Sulfuree Waters
They contain zolfo in different combination. Those who contain hydrogene solfurated are characterized for the unpleasant smell of rotten eggs. They are administrated by drink, in balneotherapy, in muds. The sulferee waters ditoxicate the skin as a natural cosmetic.
Main thermae bases: Acqui, Tabiano, Porretta.
Suitable for: respiratory, osteoarticolar, arthrolithiasis, gynecological illnesses and angiopathies.
Arsenical Waters – ferruginose
These waters contain large amount of iron and traces of arsenic. They are administrated by drink, in balneotherapy, in muds. Are also natural rebuilders and excellent as skin cosmetics .
Main thermae bases: Levico, Pejo.
Suitable for: sideropeniche anemic, diathesis linfatiche, skin illnesses, nevrities.
Bicarbonate Waters
They come from waterfall rocks and contain mostly bicorbonate. The major part are bicarbonate-calcium, and the presents of calcium ads a lovely flavor to these waters. Usualy are for hyropinic therapies; the more concentrated ones for baths, showers, vaginal and rectal irrigations. Mostly, they are suitable for athletes to reconcur mineral loss.
Sulfuree Waters
These are rich in sulphur. Administrated by drink, but also in muds and rectal irrigations. Cleans the liver and they benefit skin and hair.
Carbonated Waters
They contain bicorbonate in various forms. Mostly are bicarbonated-calcium. The calcium gives a lovely flavor to these waters. Administrated by drink, but also by balneotherapy,showers, vaginal and rectal irrigations. At thermae baths, they help to balance the circulation.
Radioactive Waters
Contain traces of radioactive substances (radon) and help to balance the nervous system. They are used through: drink, inalations, vaginal irrigations, balneotherapy and mudtherapy.
Salsedine-Bromine-Iodine
They are strongly mineralized from marine origin.
Contain cloride of sodium and other minerals in different concentration levels.
Administered by: balneotherapy, muds, inalations and irrigations.
