Aquasoma is the realisation of Ortho-Bionomy in water. This latest one born out of the studies and work of Dr. Artur Lincoln Pauls, a Canadian osteopath. It is a method of corporeal re-education that involves muscles and structures closely situated next to joints aiming to free the body from stifness, locking and difficulty of movements caused by wrong postures, traumas and nervous tensions.

The principals that the Ortho-Bionomy is based on, are:

- Using antalgic and relaxed postures only.

- Not to stress the muscels or the joints.

-Working always to find the right rhythm and type of relation with the patient, realising not only the physical limit but also the emotional one.

AquaSoma is a method that, through working, gives "harmony" in order to empower the structural dynamic of the body and take advantage of what the water has to offer:

The body is supported by the water, and as a result the force of gravity on the joints and the back is reduced and so it allows the body to follow lines of less resistance;

The water resistance against all the fast movements, allows easier neuromuscular micromovements to seem easier and to be more easily noticed.

The movement of the water, helps to find the body's natural rhythm and the simple layout, and free from any type of impediment imposed by the fast pace of daily life. This also gives corrects posture of the body. The therapist, during the exersice, step by step takes the person to a complete body relaxation, and a sensitive fluid body existance.

The manouvres move the body in a way to start re-training it, gradually. The therapist in these conditions can help some joint groups to relax, augmenting what the water is accomplishing.

The therapist-patient contact is very important when they share some of the movements and as a result the concuring of wellbeing and health.

The coordination of water quality, therpist help, and the volunteer participation of the patient, are indispensable in order to obtain great results.
